I found the site http://www.militarycac.com
Apr 22, 2020 High Sierra is another Mac OS with a built-in Smart Card reader. However, unlike Mojave or Catalina, you cannot access CAC-protected sites through Safari. They are not supported through Safari in this OS. You need to use Google Chrome for optimal results.
This gentleman has taken a lot of time to post many fixes for issues regarding military sites and Common Access Cards (CAC)
- The best USB-C card readers for Mac will let you connect your SD cards, microSD, and in some cases, even Compact Flash card to your Mac, so you can transfer files and photos with ease. While a USB-C card reader won't necessarily give you all the options that the best USB-C hubs for Mac can, they are typically less expensive.
- Safari has a built-in PDF reader that automatically displays PDF documents right in the browser window. You don’t have to download and install a separate PDF reader app. Open Safari for me. In the Safari app on your Mac, click the link to a PDF. Move the pointer to the bottom center of the browser window to see controls.
- Full list of the top Browsers apps that are similar to Adobe Flash Player, including Adblock Plus for Safari, ClickToPlugin, ClickToFlash, Adobe SVG Viewer (OS X), Translate Safari Extension.
- How to use your CAC with Windows 10. How to use your CAC with Mac OS. Commercial Virtual Remote which utilizes Microsoft Teams, now has a self help page. If you have recently upgraded to Mac OS Catalina (10.15.x), then you need to follow this entire page, with EXCEPTION of disabling the built in ability.
I hope you find it helpful if you ever come across the need.
3 Steps total
Step 1: Open Internet Browser
Choose your favorite browser, but you will soon find that military sites work best through Internet Explorer. Though we have success with Firefox in my location.
Step 2: Find the address bar..
In the address bar, paste the following:
http://www.militarycac.com
Step 3: Utilize this man's wonderful resource
Mac Friendly Cac Reader
I have never sent this man an individual email for issues, but I have heard he is responsive and takes great pride in his ability to help others. His efforts were instrumental in helping several of our users get into necessary military sites.
If you have any issues. Please leave a comment and I will try and fix the directions as I am available.

Microsoft office mac catalina hacked. You are correct about working best with IE, but Many of the military sites do not work well with IE 9, 10, or compatibility mode. They want you to use IE 8 most often. This is a real pain ans Rdb2013 mentioned.
Thanks for the info and I will take a look at the site.

Thanks for the info. Many government agencies prefer having IE8 as the official supported browser. We're required to use it on our installs. But we are also allowed to distribute other browsers.

Windows 10 + Chrome, and you may be able to use your CAC a lot easier, as in: plug the CAC reader into your box, insert your card into the reader, open Chrome and visit a dot mil or gov or whatever site. This may work with other OSes and Chrome as well.
